Got a blog deadline looming? Trying to get in your 3 articles this week? You promised your readers you’d have something new by tomorrow, or maybe it’s today. Not sure what to write about? How about writing about your take on a news item?

Not sure if there’s any news relevant to your niche? Or maybe it’s been a slow news week in your niche. You can always do a Google News search using your website’s keywords. Google has a special search feature that allows you to search just news stories.

Go to google.com and click on News on the menu in the top left part of your browser’s screen:

The Google News page will be displayed. Type your keyword(s) in the search box and click the Search News button.

For this example, let’s assume you have a blog about cats and one of your keyword phrases is “cat care”. After scrolling down past any sponsored links, you’ll see a list of articles matching your keyword(s).

In the list below, I see three possible article ideas; feline renal failure treatment, cats finding homes at an animal shelter event and an article about 28 cats that were rescued from a hoarder at a Motel 6 (what’s up with that?)

Any one of these can be the basis for an article. You can write your own take on one of the articles you find or use one of them to highlight a shocking reality piece for your audience.

Try the Google News search feature to find an interesting article for your niche and see what comes up. You might even find several articles that together form an article idea. Try this any time you find yourself struggling to come up with an article idea for your blog.

Once you’ve tried this, please come back and share in the comments area below about the kind of article you came up with using this method.
